Renegade Thoughts are
no more than Fugitives Of The Past
looking up an old friend.
The only way to get a handle on
the Undertow Of Your Life is to
actively discern the source of
all the Voices In Your Head.

msn convo with a woman after my own heart

troglodyte says:
jenny!
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
hey how's it gng ah?
troglodyte says:
hmm.. sometimes good sometimes not so good
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
that's normal do ur best! remember U're the best!
troglodyte says:
ha.. positive talk right
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
of course, coming frem a jaded person like me, it's precious ok! haha
troglodyte says:
it's hard not to be jaded as we grow older ah
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
that's true..
troglodyte says:
but i think sometimes we just try to appreciate what we have on hand?
jenny you must keep your spirits up ya
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
i felt i've lost something really precious
so much regrets
troglodyte says:
was it inevitable?
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
it seemed so.
we didn't handle it with finesse.
i miss the gd times
troglodyte says:
i think breakups are usually quite ugly?
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
well we're still frens on talking terms
troglodyte says:
they will always remain as sweet memories.. at least you have that..
then it's not so bad as you think it is?
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
i only have the memories to live by
i'm discontented with only that.. wanna turn back the clock, but well even god cannot do that
troglodyte says:
treat it as a learning experience?
i think it's things like this that make us stronger, more experienced.. and hopefully not too jaded
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
we must never be too jaded lest we fade away into oblivion
troglodyte says:
the worse part is that nobody really cares if you do fade away
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
you're spot on. that's why - fight or flight
troglodyte says:
i think it's pathetic really.. as cliche as it sounds.. it's really just knowing how to survive and churn out being the tough one
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
but u wouldn't want to be weak, yes?
there's so little u can do if u are weak
troglodyte says:
how much can you stay strong?
all the time?
do we have to trade weakness for strength and cynicism?
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
how come strength and cynicism comes together meh?
troglodyte says:
i think we are weak in some ways or another.. and having to become strong.. the process makes you slightly cynical? Cos you know perhaps you block yourself from feeling too much
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
oh i know wat u mean
troglodyte says:
i'm making sense? ha
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
u say exactly what i couldn't express
pple always say 'be strong be strong' i've heard so much
it may really be a matter of blocking ur real feelings and brushing everything aside, in turn becoming a cynic
not in touch with yourself!
troglodyte says:
*nod nod* That's what i personally think too
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
haha, no wonder u could decode my blog poems so well
troglodyte says:
but how can anyone also be able to survive if you open your heart out so readily for ppl and to only get ripped apart all over again
was my interpretation really close to what you were saying?
troglodyte says:
i love reading your blog
i wish i can write and express as well as you
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
everything i write is from my heart. if the blog was made of paper u could see driedup tears too
i'm one of those who"open your heart out so readily for ppl and to only get ripped apart all over again"
troglodyte says:
i know.. you give me that impression as well
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
i just cannot change
troglodyte says:
and i say.. why should you change?
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
even though society forces me to
troglodyte says:
i hate conformity
screw it man.. seriously
life doesn't always work out the way we want to, does it?
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
i totally understand
pple only look at the surface of things
troglodyte says:
and i know we can't really blame them.. cos that's how humans function.. we stereotype and categorize ppl through first impressoins
i think for whatever things you stand up for.. for who you are.. you should never change it.. cos that's why makes you so special =)
jen :: what a jaded piece :: says:
well said my dear

I was in Japan 8 months ago, Osaka to be exact. Next up is Tokyo! In the far future.
The Japanese world is awesome. Everything there is cute & squarish. The houses, living spaces are square. The cars, trucks, vans (they dun have lorries) are square. Even the language looks square in printed form. And i dun mean square as in boring... Nah!
No double entendres this time. Japan is farrrr from boring. It is the most interesting Asian country in the world. At least to me.
Anyway. The shops there close real early! At 7.30pm! I bet you my last dollar that 100% money-minded Singaporean businesses will sell their wares 24/7 if they could (1) obtain the overnight operating license (2) find enough 7-elevenish sleepless workers to man the stores...
Anyway again. I was at this ultra long shopping street, almost bored to tears after the stores all pulled down their metal shutters. But lo and behold, the street comes to life! All sorts of forms of underground arts and culture appeared, almost like an unsaid conspiracy or a flash mob.
There you have it: caricaturists, accessory peddlers, live bands all fill up the slots of the now-closed storefronts. In front of me, in that photo above, was a 4-piece cutie jamming with a cello (!),
electric guitar, acoustic guitar and
a cajon + bongo + tambourine. Woah.
Check out the cajon on the left. It is so nifty!
I heart Japan.

open up the submerged

on the left is JJ's 原来,
on the right are unpolished lyrics i wrote, with no regard to stanza structure and such.

街灯绊住我眼前 下一步
拉长的影子 嘲弄的回顾
电话亭仍留着你的话
一句话掉一滴泪
今晚的我 会是如何入睡
Nobody's listening
Nobody gives a shit to what i have to say
Every little thing that you do
Will change my point of view
Life goes on around you, without you.
And so you carry on
To dance on the typo
原来最疼痛的表情
竟是没有情绪
原来最残忍的画面
可以甜言蜜语

It's been more downhill than up
This love that freezes me
And now it releases me
I cannot be the one you want
我不懂得如何更爱你
影子讽刺地跟着我难分难离
Why does it always seem to rain when we part?
Memories flash us by, right before our hands
I've never held someone this close to my heart
Inevitable, I rather choose to cry
But i've depleted the well of tears
Exhausted the realm of fears
原来最孤单的是
我还是那么想你
原来最悲哀的是
我不能面对自己

You might have caused me hurting
Each time i die, i leave it behind
Wherever you go, i promise you one thing
In spite of how it seems
I'm holding on to our begone dreams
你 收的干净
我也会不留一点痕迹

Let go, let live, and be light
Where do we go from here?
How far will we be from each other?
When we gaze upon the same constellation
Then it is time to get back together
说故事也要像是真的
可是别触动那些回忆
今夜你说了最后一句
一句话 掉一滴泪
看来今晚的我 很难入睡

I hope that
I am always in your heart,
sometimes in your thoughts,
and never in your debt.

rappin' me up!

I officially declare Machi, a group of Western-bred Taiwanese boys, the epitome of cool Hokkien rap. Now, we can all take Hokkien music seriously despite its funny vowels. But therein lies the fun when the auditory riot kicks off!

Likewise, opting for a stereotype-less style of music, the homegrown choupijiang lads (which i had dinner once with the quiet-off-the-stage bassist, but that's a side topic), is the epitome of cool Cantonese rap!

Yo wassup! Give a 1-2 checka on this!
